What is It?

Flexible broadband is a brand new and innovative service that’s designed to allow you to only use your broadband when you need it. It will help our customers who need temporary broadband to save money, and we are delighted to be the first Irish company to bring this service to the Irish market. It’s only a 30-day rolling contract so there’s no more paying for what you don’t need!

The super-fast broadband is offered through the NBI network and has connections speeds of 500 Mbps and 1 Gbps. We can offer this service to anywhere in Ireland that’s serviced by NBI.

How Does it Work?

After paying the once off installation fee, the broadband service will be active for 30 days, and you can keep it turned on for as long as you want past the 30 days. You can pause the service at any time from your control panel and the broadband will only continue until the renewal date. Then when you’re ready to restart the service again, simply turn it back on at any time in the control panel, and your next 30-day rolling contract will begin.

Not only is this service ideal for holiday homes where people only need the broadband for the length of their stay, it’s also a great solution for many businesses that need broadband for only part of the year. Shops and that are only open in the summer months, hotels in holiday destinations that are closed in the winter, and student accommodation properties with temporary residents are just some of the businesses that can benefit from having flexible broadband.

Am I Tied into a Contract with Flexi Broadband?

Only for 30 days. Our flexible broadband means that you just pay the one-off installation fee, and the broadband service will be active for 30 days. You can turn off the service at any time and reactivate it for a minimum of thirty days, or several months.
How do I pause and resume my broadband service?

You simply log in to your Blacknight account control panel and toggle the on/off button. You can turn it off after 30 days of service. You can resume it anytime, and a new 30-day billing period begins.

N.B. Please ensure that the ONT is switched on before resuming your broadband service. The ONT is a white box beside (or near) your router, it should have 3 green lights indicating that it is powered on. Service will NOT be activated if the ONT has no power.
I’m already an NBI customer with a different provider – can I move to you?
Yes – the connection fee will be reduced to €150 inc VAT for customers who are active NBI customers.
- any NBI customer that currently has an active service and their router/modem is on and active.
- any NBI customer that had a service in the past and their router/modem is still turned on.
How long does it take for the broadband service to resume when the customer turns it back on in the control panel?

Usually, about 1 hour if the router/modem is turned on. You might have to restart the router if the internet has been off for a prolonged period of time.
Does Blacknight Broadband offer static IP addresses?

Yes, Blacknight Broadband customers get a static IPV4 and IPV6 IP address with their service at no extra charge.

We do not use Carrier-grade NAT (CGNAT).
Is Broadband Unlimited?

Yes, all of our broadband plans include unlimited downloads. Please see our “Fair Usage” policy in our broadband terms and conditions for details.
I already have fibre broadband with another provider, can I switch to Blacknight?

Yes, of course you can.

We’ll need your UAN (Universal Account Number) if you know it, or your customer number with your current provider. This information can most easily be found on your bill.
